萬聖節快樂!!🎃🎃

Image
As the subject line says, Happy Halloween!!!! Hong Kong doesn't really celebrate Halloween much so nothing has really been different around here but I did see a giant inflatable pumpkin! The view from floor 7 in the Wan Chai building! This week has sped by so fast! I feel like I was just writing emails yesterday 😂 But anyways, let's get into it! Our hike last week! For pday last week we went on another hike to this place called the Peak and it was super cool but it was 90% stairs! My calves were definitely sore for a few days after that haha. We were able to see so much of Hong Kong from way up there though so it was lowkey worth it. After that we got lunch and then went to the Wan Chai chapel to hang out and eat. We were able to find a Mexican food place and I got a burrito but it was like weirdly sweet so I'd only rate it like a 6/10 Pool with the zone On Tuesday we had zone lunch, district council, and LPOs! As a zone we set up a sort of pool game by using some tables, ...

早晨! How're ya'll doing? This week has been great! The hiking crew Last week for pday we hiked a super cool trail called Dragon's Back and then we went to an all you can eat sushi restaurant! We were so sick of sushi by the time we were done but it was so good! Today we're thinking about maybe finding a Mexican food place so I'm hyped! We're also picking up my Hong Kong ID today so then I'll be official official :D comp pics!! On Tuesday we had LPOs but didn't have district council because of zone conference. My LPO was okay but my LPO partner is still going pretty hard on me so it might take a while before I pass 😅 That's alright though I still have like 14 months left to try. We also got to go to a Chinese sign language class! It was pretty cool for me since I did 3 years of ASL in high school. A lot of the signs are very similar but there are definitely a lot of differences too. I'll just have to get used to translating the signs to Chinese ...

大家好,我希望你哋又好好嘅星期! 今個星期好忙。 This week was really long but I feel like I made some good language progress! I have a little mini notebook that I always keep with me and anytime I hear a word in Cantonese that I don't know, I jot it down and study it later. It might be annoying for the other sisters and my companion who I always ask questions to, but it's been very helpful haha.  Sister Santos and I also have been having what we call "SYL" (speak your language) days. We try to speak in the language as much as we can for that whole day and it's been very good practice for my speaking skills. My listening skills still need work but we're making progress little by little :D Me during some outside finding! We had district council and LPOs this week. District council was kind of funny because it was just us and one other set of elders. Because there aren't many missionaries in the mission right now, the districts and zones are pretty small. The zone is just four co...

大家好!I hope you all are well ^^ This week hasn't been too busy as I'm sure you can imagine, but it's still been great! The time is drawing near for Sister Johnson and I to get out, get our companions, and be assigned areas so we're super excited! MICKY D'S FOR DINNAAAAA The main change over this week has been English classes. Sister Johnson and I started teaching English classes this past Tuesday and it's been super fun! There are different levels of classes and we've already taught a pretty wide variety. We've taught intermediate twice, beginners twice, and a kids beginner class once. Every class has been soooo different though. In our first class, no one ever unmuted or turned on their cameras so it was kind of hard for Sister Johnson and I to feel like we were getting anywhere. Thankfully, one guy put a few comments in the chat, but that was about it. Our next class was awesome though! We had two people who were very talkative and asked great questions...

It'a not fun being sick

大家好! It's been another fun weekend of quarantine over here in Hong Kong for Sister Johnson and I. Except for the fact that I've been SICK. It started last Monday right when I woke up and I've been feeling sick all week. The runny noses, the headaches, the depleted energy, the whole shabang. Thankfully it wasn't covid (I know because the hotel has already tested us twice in just this week) but it was still pretty sucky. Wings and fries dinner with Jong jímuih Sister Johnson and I didn't let that ruin all our fun though. This week we were able to watch the whole first season of the Chosen and it was awesome! I love getting a different perspective on the effects that Christ had during His life and the show does a really good job of making you develop a love for each of the characters. Sadly, we don't have season two on the google drive (pls send it if you have it 👀) but we've loved what we've seen! Sister Johnson and I were also able to watch some classi...

大家好! It finally happened, I'm outside now!  Ice cream cake! My last few days of quarantine were pretty routine for the most part, but Sister Johnson and I did get to celebrate my birthday which was lots of fun! My mom had an ice cream cake delivered to our room and it was so good!  Last hotel pic with Jong jímuih We also had bō lòh baau (pineapple buns) delivered to us which was so exciting because we'd been wanting to try it sooooo bad. It did not disappoint! I'm excited to be able to have it again now! Other than my birthday, Sister Johnson and I just chilled and watched movies and studied and such. Everything was anticipatory to us getting out though! Thursday we spent packing up and getting ready and then around 8am Friday morning, a hotel employee picked us up from our room and brought us down to the lobby. There we met up again with the other missionaries who were quarantined and we all got on a bus which took us to the mission office. It was a rainyyyyy day. Like it ...
