👩‍🦽💨PICKLEBALL

 早晨!

How're ya'll doing? This week has been great!

The hiking crew
Last week for pday we hiked a super cool trail called Dragon's Back and then we went to an all you can eat sushi restaurant! We were so sick of sushi by the time we were done but it was so good! Today we're thinking about maybe finding a Mexican food place so I'm hyped! We're also picking up my Hong Kong ID today so then I'll be official official :D

On Tuesday we had LPOs but didn't have district council because of zone conference. My LPO was okay but my LPO partner is still going pretty hard on me so it might take a while before I pass 😅 That's alright though I still have like 14 months left to try. We also got to go to a Chinese sign language class! It was pretty cool for me since I did 3 years of ASL in high school. A lot of the signs are very similar but there are definitely a lot of differences too. I'll just have to get used to translating the signs to Chinese instead of to English haha.

Me and all my MTC girls finally not over a screen!

Wednesday was zone conference and it was so fun! I finally was able to be reunited with my entire MTC district (minus Elder Ng 🥲). Sadly though, Sister Whitney went home this week after zone conference because of some health problems. We're all going to miss her so much but I know that the Lord has a plan for her and she is right where she needs to be. One of the things that President Chan shared in zone conference that I really liked was to "trust in the Gift of the Holy Ghost". For those of us who've been baptized, we've received the Gift of the Holy Ghost but sometimes we forget the power that that has! I know that God can work miracles through us through the Holy Ghost. For example, I can receive the gift of tongues and learn Cantonese and you all can receive personal revelation to help you and your loved ones! I encourage you to continue to heed the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

Sister Santos and I have also been doing a lot of social media work recently since we're on the social media team. She's been busy editing a video to go up on the local church facebook page and I've been on photoshop putting together pictures for our posts. It's been a bit of a learning curve but I think it's going well!

Wednesday night and all of Thursday were exchanges! Except, because of how small the mission is, we only have one STL instead of an STL companionship so it was a little weird. Our STL, Sister Lam, came over to our place and was companions with Sister Santos and then I was paired with Sister Lam's two trainees (who came in the same day that I did) Sister Morris and Sister Bohman. We were pretty freaked out because all of us are new in the language and we had to teach a lesson on our own. Thankfully it didn't go too bad though! We talked with the lady about keeping the Sabbath Day holy, service, and teaching and learning in the church and we each just picked one topic to speak on. We also were able to have a member fellowshipper sit in on the lesson and that was super helpful because she could share her own experiences and clarify the things we were saying. It was definitely a weird and kind of difficult exchange but I'm happy with the way it turned out :)

On Friday we did some more social media work and had sports night that night! We were able to play some fun games of badminton and basketball with the youth so that was great.

On Saturday we actually got to participate in a super fun activity with some disabled, wheelchair using, individuals in the community. We were able to play pickleball and basketball with them and it was a blast! I was able to speak a little bit of Cantonese with some people and make some new friends so it was great!

Sunday we went to church as usual and then afterwards we had a lesson with Arnold. We were able to read the first chapter of 1 Nephi with him and discuss more about the Book of Mormon and it went really well! We invited him to read the next chapter and promised him that as he continues to read and pray, all of his questions will be answered. I have a lot of hope for him so I hope he accepts our invitation!

Chan siuje has been doing good as well and we were able to teach her the first half of the Restoration on Friday. She even came to church again! I can't wait to teach her the rest of the Restoration and explain more to her about the Book of Mormon because I know she will continue to just love this gospel more and more.

That's pretty much it for me this week! I hope you all have been safe and healthy back in the US. As for me, I will be sure to update you again next week so look out for it!

Love you!!

1 Nephi 14:14

14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

We are those saints and we are armed with righteousness and the power of God! Don't forget that He is always with you and He will strengthen you through every challenge!
