我唔明白

 大家好🙇‍♀️

Beautiful Hong Kong
I hope you've all been well and healthy. I heard the Crumbl's open down in SCV so all ya'll should definitely go try it if you can!

As for my week it's been pretty WILD so let's get started.

For last pday, Sister Santos and I explored Central together. We checked out some music shops and malls, got froyo from ikea, and had lunch with Sister Santos' mom at Jollibees (her family lives in Hong Kong). It was a good day :)

On Tuesday, we had district council and LPOs so we were at Kowloon Tong for that. District council was fun because we had a bottle flipping competition and the loser had to eat a bag of really spicy chips. We lost but haha jokes on them we like spicy food. The chips were pretty good and 唔太辣. As for my LPO, it was my first time trying to teach the Restoration and there's a rule where you can't pass on the first try so thankfully I wasn't too stressed about it. My partner ended up just having me teach the first three principles and I think I did okay but I forgot to mention Priesthood when talking about prophets haha. Room for improvement guys.

Me and Sister Santos
On Wednesday we went to Wan Chai because there's actually a sister being taught by some other missionaries there and she wanted to see if she could be taught in Tagalog instead of English so she could understand better. Since Sister Santos can speak Tagalog (or at least much more than the rest of us) she was the perfect candidate. The lesson went really well honestly. I didn't understand the majority of it but I still got to share some comments in English and I think they helped so that was good :D Other than that, we also did some finding by the harbor that day and we exchanged numbers with a guy who was wondering if we could give him a job (we told him we couldn't but we could pray for him and he was like "oh that's good too") he was interested in our English group so that's cool. We also met a lady who spoke English (yay!). Her name is Tuella and she grew up in Hong Kong. We totally thought she was like 20 but she was 30! We were so surprised. I swear that Asians age so slowly. She wasn't super interested but it was still cool to talk with her (especially because I know how to talk in English).

On Thursday we had zone finding! Sister Santos and I ended up at this park where we talked to these two old guys. We sat in between them so it was like 🧓👩👩‍🦰🧓. It was fine but I felt a bit awkward because Sister Santos was the one who mostly talked to them and I was just in the middle of it. She told them that I wanted to practice my Chinese and so the man next to me started chatting with me but honestly I only understood like 20% of what he said haha. I kept nodding but I seriously had no idea. Neither of them were really interested but it was nice that they were willing to chat with us. We did find one lady with interest though. She was Filipino and so Sister Santos and her talked a bunch in Tagalog and apparently they're from the same place in the Philippines! Crazy. When Sister Santos told her about the church and gave her a pamplet, she was like, "do you have any more? I have some friends that might be interested." We were like yuh!! So that was pretty cool.

Water COVERING the cultural hall floor!

On Friday we had sports night and that was pretty awesome as usual, but when we first got to the cultural hall, the floor was covered with water! Like puddles of it! We luckily were able to clean it all up in time with some mops and fans but man that was a headache.

On Saturday, the office elders prepared for the new missionaries to fly into Hong Kong. They put together snack boxes to give them while in quarantine and so I reccommended they put Cheeto puffs in them because Sister Johnson and I survived off those things. Apparently though, one of the sisters tested positive for covid once they all got to the Hong Kong aiport so now she's going to have to be put under observation and the officials aren't sure if they'll let the other missionaries go to the hotel to quarantine or make them stay at a quarantine camp 😬 Keep them in your prayers everyone! I know that must be such a nightmare to deal with. That day we also did some more finding but I felt really dumb because I didn't talk to more people. I just couldn't open my mouth. Why can't I be better at talking to people in Cantonese 😫

Mochi!
Sunday was CRAZY. We were literally out of the house for 12 hours. We went to church early and had a member lesson before the meeting started. She was really nice but we ended up chatting for too long and then when we shared our message we ended with like 3 minutes before sacrament meeting. I was really disappointed because I was going to lead more in the lesson but because of time, Sister Santos just taught the whole thing. I felt very useless after that lesson. It just gets hard sometimes. After that we had sacrament meeting and Chan jimuih came yayyyy. We were encouraged to bear our testimonies in testimony meeting so Sister Santos and I both did and I was honestly super stressed to do it in Cantonese but I think it was alright. After that, we actually skipped second hour because we had a musical number practice with some sisters in the Peninsula branch. Sister Santos played the piano accompaniment so that was fun. I kind of had to direct everyone as to how to sing some parts and even conducted a bit but I think it's turning out pretty okay. We practiced right up until the Peninsula sacrament meeting and then went to that.

Hong Kong!
A member of the 70 named Elder Muers was actually in attendance that day. We stepped out to use the bathroom but then we saw that our recent convert was sitting on a couch with a bunch of members around her. Apparently she has a stress induced heart condition and when she was in the meeting she turned really pale and had trouble breathing. We comforted her the best we could (they almost called the paramedics but she was okay) and then eventually went back into the meeting. Sister Santos and I bore our testimonies again in that meeting but it was a lot easier obviously because it was in English. After that we had to log onto zoom for the Kowloon City ward council and I didn't understand much of it but that was pretty good. We grabbed our friend Arnold out of Sunday School after that and had a lesson with him where we read the second chapter of the Book of Mormon together and that went well. Then we had a lesson with a lady named Grace. Grace is so cool! She was actually previously Catholic but she said that she knows that their teachings aren't true. She's visited a lot of other churches to look for the right one but just hasn't felt good about any of them. She came to ours yesterday though and she said she really enjoyed it and felt peace. She's totally like Joseph Smith! We taught her the whole restoration lesson and she was super engaged. I felt such strong chills when I shared the first vision with her. It was awesome. We gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read it and pray about if this church is true and she said she would. I really hope she does! I can see so much potential in her because she truly has that desire to learn the truth and she already prays to God all the time.

Me and Sister Santos!
After our lessons, we had another musical number practice and then a ward correlation call before FINALLY leaving the church buidling around 5. After that we went to dinner with the Kowloon City bishop's family. It was a bit far to travel to get there and by the time we arrived we were pretty hungry from fasting all day.  The whole time we were there everyone pretty much only spoke in Cantonese but surprisingly I wasn't too lost. I could understand at least the general ideas of what they were saying even if I couldn't always get the specific details. For dinner we had rice with a bunch of different options for toppings and it was really good. Then afterwards we had this sort of sweet soup? It was interesting. We shared our message after that and I think it went very well :) Then we left the house and went home. A super eventful day.

Beautiful Hong Kong
So that was my week pretty much. Kind of all over the place. As for the other people we're teaching, we talked with Chan jimuih more about the Book of Mormon this week and she said she'll start reading it, we're going to see Yip Taai in person tomorrow and make banana cake with her so that'll be fun :), and Ella is leaving to go to Utah for about a month or two but we'll be sending her daily verses in the meantime so hopefully she'll continue to stay interested! We're still trying to get times to meet more with our newer people and have been inviting them to come to church but we'll just have to be patient with them.

I hope you've all had a lovely week so far! I'm sorry if this was long haha. Remember God loves you, I love you, and you got this! 加油!

2 Nephi 9:52

52 Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words of your God; pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night. Let your hearts rejoice.

I encourage you all to pray morning and night if you haven't been! God wants you to talk to Him and He wants you to know Him personally! I know that building a stronger relationship with God has helped me with my struggles so much :)
