Me and Sister Bohman at the Harry Potter exhibit before we even knew we were about to be comps!
First things first, last Monday for pday we went to a little pop up Harry Potter exhibit that was really cute and took some fun pictures and then we went ice skating! In a mall! It was pretty crazy but so fun!

On Tuesday we didn't have district council because of zone conference on Wednesday but we got to go and visit a member lady named Ng jimuih! She's pretty old and frail so she hasn't been able to go to church recently but we shared the conference talk about increasing our slopes and starting now to improve ourselves! We also did some fun finding where we passed out lots of flyers for our upcoming Christmas activities! A lot of people ignored us but we were able to find some people interested so that's good! Sister Santos and I also recorded our Spiritual Breakfast which went up on the page on Wednesday morning! I hope you guys saw it and if you didn't then go and watch it to hear some sweet Cantonese!
Wednesday was ~~zone conference~~ and it was pretty swanky except for the fact that we were LATE. The MTR decided to be stupid and got stuck. It moved very slowly between every station and added an extra 15 minutes to the normal travel time. So we definitely sprinted to the mission office once we got off and walked in the chapel panting while everyone stared at us like: 😐 but it's cool.

Other than that it was great, lots of good advice from President and fun games as well! We do this PMG superbowl where every zone is a team and we have to answer questions on a specific chapter and it's SO HARD but SO FUN. Then for lunch we were treated with a Thanksgiving meal! The sisters worked so hard the day before to make lots of turkey, yams, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, mini pumpkin pies, and so much else! We even had some untraditional dishes like rice and spaghetti(?) It was a good time haha. Other than zone conference we had a nice choir practice with everyone and then Sister Santos and I taught another lesson to our friend Cristy! We invited her to be baptized and she said yes! We will be working hard to help her be prepared for December 22nd! I probably won't be able to be a part of the baptism because ~~transfers~~ but I'll get into that in a minute.

So Thursday was super fun because I got to go on an exchange with our STL Sister Lam! She's a native and she's super funny so I was so excited! I slept over at her apartment the night before and then Thursday we did a bunch of stuff together! We got to check out the cool family history center of a chapel that's been closed for the past year and then we got to go to Sister Lam's grandma, or Màh màh's, house to teach her one of the lessons! She was very nice to me and even though I was nervous about my Cantonese, I got lots of compliments on it! We taught her about the Word of Wisdom and it was really funny because she was like pssh I don't do any of that anyways it's no problem. So pretty straightforward haha. We also taught her about following the prophet and I definitely butchered President Nelson's Chinese name but it's aight. After that we had a cheng! For those of you who don't know, cheng just means "to treat" like when you treat someone to a meal and we use it to describe member dinners. So these two sweet member sisters took us to a Hainanese chicken place and I don't even know where Hainanese chicken is from but it was pretty interesting. It's basically cold chicken with the skin still on it. So not really what I'm used to but it wasn't terrible. We exchanged back after that and Sister Santos and I had our ward and branch correlation meetings over phone call before transfer calls came out!!! It was crazy because I totally expected Sister Santos and I to just stay together but NOPE. Sister Santos is moving to the apartment close by and will be in Sister Lam's companionship with Sister Morris and then the previous third member of their trio, Sister Bohman will become my companion! I was so shocked that I wasn't staying with Sister Santos and immediately stressed because Sister Bohman came into Hong Kong in the same group that I did so she's just as new as I am! Being in a co senior companionship as newbies is going to be hard so catch me doing a lot of praying this transfer 🙏

Friday was a pretty chill day, we did some studies, finding, and area book organizing but then at night we had another cheng! We went to the Ling family's house in To Kwa Wan and Brother Ling is in the Bishopric in the Kowloon City ward. He's really cool because he actually grew up in Salt Lake City and Cantonese is his second language so he understands what it's like to learn it! He and his wife and his two daughters all mostly spoke Cantonese to each other but they threw in a few English words here and there. I was so proud of myself because I was able to understand what was going on that whole night! Brother Ling complimented me for how fast I'm learning the language and I know that it's definitely due to the Gift of Tongues. They were kind enough to treat us with pizza from Pizza Hut (the only American pizza chain here) and ice cream which was sweet. But the Pizza Hut food was a lot different than in America haha. One of the pizzas was pepperoni, onion, sausage, and pineapple and the other had an interesting orange sauce and had sausage, pineapple, and squid tentacles on top. It wasn't bad but I was definitely surprised to see pizza like that haha. Also for the appetizers instead of breadsticks there was curry rice, spaghetti (again?), chicken wings, and tempura. Hong Kong is really something else. Don't worry though the ice cream was normal other than the fact that the tubs are super small here.

Last apartment lunch :,)
On Saturday we had choir practice again (it happens a lot) and then I got to practice a violin duet I'm doing with Sister Madson! We didn't like the one we were going to do so we ended up switching it but the new one sounds really good! We're going to be doing it for a concert that one of the stake choirs called the Golden Plate Singers is doing and I hear they take their singing very seriously haha. It should be fun and it will just be pre recorded so no stress about in person performing.
Sunday was me and Sister Santos' last day together and her last day in Kowloon City and Peninsula so it was pretty sad :(. A lot of people said they would miss her. Peninsula had their fast and testimony meeting this week because next week is District Conference and the testimony meeting ended up going over time and Sister Santos almost didn't get a chance to bear her last testimony haha. Then we had a lesson with a member who wanted to know more about tithing and that went way over as well. It was a long Sunday haha. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to meet with Arnold because he left while we were meeting with the member but Chan jimuih came to church and stayed for both hours which is awesome! Sunday evening we had a departing devotional with the missionaries leaving in a week or so and that was really sad but the testimonies were so good. Especially after Sister Wong spoke there was a lot of hugging and crying haha. We had a fun night as an apartment taking pictures and joking around.

NEW COMP NEW TRANSFERRRR
Monday was transfers!! Sister Santos spent a lot of time packing and then we had an apartment lunch all together for the last time before Sister Santos leaves. We shared with each other our thoughts when we first met each other and it was super sweet. I love these guys. We'll definitely miss Sister Santos but we had so much fun together and we'll still see her often! We went to the mission office after that and exchanged sim cards and then companions. Sister Bohman and I went to our apartment and she started unpacking. We had dinner at home and then we went back to Kowloon Tong to film a member testimony. The member mostly only spoke Chinese so we had to speak a lot of Cantonese with her but I think I did very well! She said that my Cantonese is very good which is awesome ^^. Her testimony is so strong!! I loved her whole story about how she joined the church and I could feel the Spirit so strongly. Look forward to that meet the members video when it goes up the the page! After we finished filming, Sister Bohman and I got to walk to the MTR station with the member and we chatted more in Cantonese. I was like wow I'm actually having a conversation with a native in Cantonese! We got home and did some member calls on our own which was scary but not very many people answered so it's okay haha.
That's pretty much the whole week! Sorry it was a bit long! I'm excited to see what this transfer will have in store! I know it'll be kind of crazy but it'll be fun too! I hope you all have had a wonderful week and have a wonderful next one too! 加油!

Sister DelHoyo
This week for my little spiritual thought I want to remind you of the classic verse,
Mosiah 2:16
16 Behold, I say unto you that because I said unto you that I had spent my days in your service, I do not desire to boast, for I have only been in the service of God.
This verse is so true! When we serve each other we really do serve God and I know it helps us grow even closer to Him! I invite you all to find a way to serve someone this week and I know you will feel God's love as you do!
