6 MONTHS BAYBEEEEE

 大家好!

It's Sister DelHoyo back again with the weekly updates and guess what? I'm now 1/3 done with my mission! I can't believe there's only a year left to be here in Hong Kong and serve these people! I'm so sad that it's been going so fast but I can't wait for what this next year will have in store for me!
Some fun hike pics!

Some fun hike pics!
This week has honestly felt pretty slow and I think it's probably because being in a co-senior companionship has been pretty tough but there have been some blessings too! Here's what happened,

On Tuesday for pday last week we went to a little island called Po Toi island and that was pretty cool! I unfortunately was dumb though and didn't put on enough sunscreen so my arms and neck got burnt pretty badly. Lowkey peeling skin now but it's aight.

Wednesday was our first zone lunch and district council with the new peeps and it was really fun! Our new zone leader is Elder Ryan Yip and his companion is our old zone leader Elder Benny Yip so we have a companionship of two Elder Yips leading us. It's pretty funny haha. Elder Lam is training one of the new missionaries Elder Morgan and Elder Tsang is training Elder Tan. We've only done a few activities with them but they're really fun! Then Elder Thompson is with Elder Citte who also came in the same group as us so they get the whole co-senior companionship thing. For district council Elder Lam gave a really good training on language studying and then after that I taught everyone how to play Bang! Bang is one of my dad's favorite games and I basically know the rules by heart so we were still able to play even though the cards were in Chinese. We had LPOs after that and Sister Santos is my new LPO partner which is so funny! I taught her the whole Restoration lesson and I passed! Now I'll be on to teaching about the Book of Mormon. Fingers crossed it goes well! Other than that, Sister Bohman and I did some member calls and we set up a lesson which is good! But there was one lady that was lowkey really rude and I couldn't understand so that's a rip. Lowkey cried afterwards but it's aight :')

Dress rehearsal trying on the dresses!
Thursday we had choir practice again but this time our dress rehearsal and oh my gosh the dresses. So basically we had two options, a bright green dress that showed every curve and was kind of short or a big frumpy red dress with no shape at all. I'm glad to say I got the red dress because there was no way I'd be putting that green dress on. Either way they were pretty ugly but ya know, the better of two evils. Thankfully by the end of the practice President Chan said for the girls in the green dresses to just wear black skirts and fold the dress up like a normal sweater so that was a relief. After that Sister Madson and I filmed a violin duet of O Holy Night for a stake choir concert and it sounded pretty good! After Sister Bohman and I got home that night, we had a super fun joint two apartment hot pot night because it was Sister Lam's last night as a missionary! It was soooooo good. I've never had hot pot before but I loved it. You guys should definitely try it if there's a place near you. My favorite was this one fish cake dumpling that has CHEESE in it. It was bussin bussin. 10/10 would eat again. So sad to say goodbye to Sister Lam but I know that she's served long and hard so she deserves to be done.

Bus selfie!
Friday was a pretty busy day. Sister Bohman and I taught our first lesson in Cantonese together and it was soooo scary! We taught Yip Taai the gospel of Jesus Christ and it was a little hard to understand her sometimes but we got through it! Sadly she seemed kind of distracted while we taught it though and then she ended up needing to leave in the middle of us teaching her baptism so that was kind of disappointing. I know that she was close to Sister Santos so I hope she'll warm up to us more and we can continue teaching her! After that we went to the Ho Man Tin chapel and had a lesson with Chan Jimuih where we taught her the same thing except her lesson was much better haha. There were still things we didn't understand but we were able to talk through them with her. In the end we invited her to pray about baptism and she seemed kind of unsure about it. We still encouraged her to try though. She didn't give us a for sure yes or no but I really hope she tries! Prayers for her would be much appreciated! After that we had a zone wide Christmas decoration making activity to find people to teach! Quite a bit of people came which is awesome! We made cute little Christmas tree ornaments and decorated cookies and made advent calendars and all that jazz. It was super fun! Sister Bohman and I even did a little musical number of Silent Night which was cool. Overall a successful activity!
Boba!!

Saturday was also a pretty busy day. In the morning we had to travel to Ho Man Tin pretty early and we had a fun activity where we taught some kids how to play badminton!  They were pretty wild but it was a good time haha. After the activity was over we had to go to Kowloon Tong for our choir concert. We g
ot changed and then had a light dinner altogether before we had to go practice. We ran through our whole program and then shortly afterwards we started the show and a lot of people actually showed up! Almost all of the chairs were filled. The whole show went very well I'd say with just a few personal mistakes here and there. I'm sure we'll get even better as we perform the next few times. I was honestly pretty exhausted after we finished so it was nice when the APs said we could go home without staying for the second half of the show.

On Sunday we had district conference which is basically stake conference but for all of the branches in the area (including our Peninsula branch). We had to travel to Wan Chai for it so we left pretty early. It was a good conference though honestly. I really enjoyed the talks and afterwards we attended a missionary training that was also super good. There were a lot of great ideas for how to improve retention, reactivation, and bringing new people in. I know that as we do our best to help everyone that God will magnify our efforts and help bring people back into His fold! Other than that Sister Bohman and I had a member lesson with Sister Mel where we talked about tithing and that was great! She has a lot going on in her life right now so I understand why it would be hard to pay tithing but I know that God will bless her so much if she chooses to do it. I love Sister Mel so much she is so strong and amazing!!

Me and Sister Bohman!

That's pretty much everything for this week! We had some very busy days and didn't always have a lot of time for finding but I'm sure this week will bring even more opportunities! I'm a little nervous as always but I'm just putting myself in God's hands and praying for his help and guidance each day! I love you all and I hope you are doing well! Keep up the hard work!

Sister DelHoyo

This week I want to share a scripture from Mosiah 7 and it's verse 33 which says:

33 But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage.

I know that this verse is so true and I'm going to be putting my trust in Him a lot this transfer! I invite you each to think of how you can trust the Lord more this week and I know that if you actively do so that you will see your burdens be made lighter and you will be lifted up!

Another pretty Hong Kong picture you're welcome
