New Transfer same area

 大家好!

So yesterday was texchnically transfers except only one new missionary (a native) came in and so there weren't any other changes made. Here's to my 3rd transfer in the area!

As for my week, overall it was pretty chill. Because of Omnicron we aren't encouraged to do outdoor finding and we aren't supposed to eat at restaurants and stuff so we basically stayed inside all week haha.

Last Monday for pday Sister Bohman and I went to Tsim Sha Tsui to get some stationary supplies and ingredients to make some Korean food I've been wanting to make. I didn't end up finding all of the ingredients sadly :( but it was still a fun day and we got to see some cool stores and shopping centers. We also got some of those Japanese souffle pancakes which I've always wanted to try! They were alright. They probably would've been better if we dined in instead of did takeout but rules are rules 🤷‍♀️

On Tuesday we had district council and a zone meeting over zoom so that was fun. We basically just spent the whole time discussing ideas for how we can continue finding through online means. I also had LPOs over videocall and I did pretty good! I was worried because the plan of salvation is kind of complicated to explain and I didn't know all of the vocab in Cantonese but I just worked around the words I didn't know by explaining it in a different way. It worked out somehow haha. I just taught the first half of it and I'm going to try it again next week before teaching the second half. Other than that we did some spicy weekly planning, facebook finding, and called some members. This one guy that we called was really weird when we asked if we could share a verse with him. He was like "no on the phone it's not good. Maybe in two weeks when we can meet in person again." We were like okay? Then we asked if we could pray with him and he said "on the phone??" (in an agitated voice). We were like, nope its okay we don't have to 😀 An interesting experience for sure.

On Wednesday our water filter exploded for the SECOND TIME so that was exciting. We had to go to the mission office to pick up a new one and it was so bizarre how empty it was. That place is usually bustling with missionaries but now it's quiet as a graveyard. Nonetheless we successfully acquired our water filter and then practiced our musical number with another sister for the facebook page next week. Other than that we didn't do anything else too exciting, just some more Facebook finding and member calls.

Thursday we did some more, you guessed it, Facebook finding, but also got out of the house to do some more music practice at the chapel. We wanted to get all ready for our music performance on Sunday! We also had our ECG class that night and that was a bit wild because we had to help a new student figure out how to join zoom. All I can say is I'm so grateful for Google translate because I never thought I would have to tell someone to "hit the button in the lower left corner" in Chinese. Thankfully, with a little maneuvering, we were able to get everything sorted out in the end. After that we were able to call some more members and I talked to THE NICEST GUY. He was super open to just talking with us and was very understanding about our imperfect language skills. When I told him that I've only been in Hong Kong for 3 months he was like "三個月??? 嘩非常之好。Amazing". He thought it was so cool that I could understand him and he said my sounds and tones were very good. So nice 😭 When you struggle with speaking the language all the time it's so encouraging to hear a native every once in a while say you're doing well.  Definitely the highlight of my week.

On Friday we had a pass off lesson with our friend Emily which was so sad :')) I'm really going to miss her but I know that God is watching over her so it'll be okay. After that Sister Bohman and I did more music practice because ya know, gotta stay on that practice grind, and then we went home to have dinner. I had some noodles boiling on the stove but I wasn't watching them closely and they started BURNING. I've reached such a low cooking point that I literally burnt noodles 💀. The smoke detector went off and everything which was a bit annoying but don't worry guys, I still ate that night.....just not the burnt noodles.

On Saturday I got to evaluate a lady's son's English because she wants him to join our English group so that was fun. His English was very good so I put him straight into the advanced group. After that his mom and I were just hashing out the details and she was like "你廣東話好好嘅。 你研讀幾耐?" and I said "差唔多三個月." She was like huh????? "三個月? ? 你講廣東話講得好!" Another one of those instances where I was like, these people are too nice about my language skills 😭. Other than that we did some more music practice, got some baau for dinner, and evaluated one other person's English. A pretty normal day.

Sunday we had church on zoom again which was pretty good this week. One of our friends who never comes to church actually joined the zoom which is awesome!!!! Super hyped about that. Then later on that day we went to the chapel for our music livestream and that was awesome! It should still be up on Facebook so if any of you would like to watch it then the link is on my page 😁

That's pretty much my whole week! Nothing too crazy other than burnt noodles haha. Now as for my spiritual thought this week, I'd like to share Alma 41:14 which says:

14 Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again

Just like this verse says, we must remember to do our best to be merciful, just, judge righteously, and always do good to others. These are things that Christ would do and as His disciples it is our job to aspire to do the same. I know that there are some people in your life who might not always be easy to get along with but I encourage you to remember these 4 things and try to implement them more in your behavior. I know that they will help change how you view the people around you.

That's all from me this week! I love you all and I'd love to hear from you whenever you have time! Keep praying, keep loving, and keep living y'all ✌
