Taro Mochi Oreo Mcflurry

 大家好! Greetings to one and all!

It's been another great week here in Kennedy Town - Hong Kong Island. We're still surviving being in the apartment most of the time. It's been a bit tiring but we've also had some good things happen!

On Monday for pday we didn't do anything crazy. We got our groceries as well as lunch and then just chilled at home and played games. Still a very fun day!

On Tuesday we had two member lessons with some sisters from the ward and that was great! They were very sweet and it was nice to get to know them better. Then we had a lesson that night with our friend Tony. Lessons with him are always a bit hard and it's not because of him, it's his 3 year old daughter. She's a wild one let me tell you. While we were trying to talk to him she took the phone and ran away and then just stared at us while we tried to talk to her. Everytime Tony or us said "俾爹哋電話好唔好" (give the phone to your daddy okay?) she'd yell "唔好!" (No!). Then later Tony was just lying on his bed and his daughter comes over and climbs all over him and keeps hiding the phone. It was pretty hard to feel the Spirit with all of that going on but we cant be too hard on her because she's just a kid. Aside from that, Tony's trying to overcome a smoking addiction right now so we've been having him smoke 1 less cigarette each day. He's doing pretty well so far but he started from smoking 40 cigarettes every day (the most I've ever heard someone smoke) so it might be a hard habit to break. Any and all prayers for Tony would be much appreciated!

On Wednesday we had another member lesson and one with our new friend Jayden which was pretty sweet. We talked to him about the first half of the restoration and he thought it was pretty interesting. He said that he doesn't think it matters which church is true, it's just about what feels right, so now we're a bit worried about his reaction when we bring up Joseph Smith but I'm sure it'll be okay 😅 Other than that we didn't do anything too crazy we just had our ECG. We taught about food and one of the kids kept yelling "I DON'T LIKE___" everytime we said one of the foods. Kids are wild lol.

On Thursday we had district council which was great as usual. It's really weird to have never hung out with this district in person but hopefully when things lessen up we'll be able to 🤞That night we also got to have a lesson with the bishop's family and they were all so sweet! Member visits always lift my soul. Thursday was also Sister Myers' birthday!! We got dumplings at this really good dumpling place and ate them together. Even though I was full to bursting afterwards, I don't regret a thing (except maybe drinking the plum juice that Sister Ho recommended I get, that stuff was weird). Then that night after 9:30 we played Bang together and ate some Japanese cake which was awesome!

On Friday morning Sister Ho and I took a trip to the post office in Wan Chai because I needed to get my vaccine record converted into a QR code that I could upload to the Leave Home Safe app. Thankfully it wasn't too complicated and we got it done without a hitch. After that, we went back home and had a lesson with our friend Leih Sin saang. Let me tell you he's a biiiiiig talker. He talked with Sister Ho for a whole hour basically. He still doesn't understand very much about Joseph Smith and our beliefs, but hopefully we can help him more. Then later that day we got to do some call finding and had a really cool experience! I was calling this one guy and started talking with him in Cantonese but then he was like, "你喺邊度來嘅?" (Where are you from?) so I said "我係美國人" (I'm American). He then said "Oh do you want to just speak in English then?" I was surprised but was like oh okay. So we started chatting a bit and he said that he actually wants to talk with us! He said that back when he first met the missionaries, he wasn't religious but now he is and so he'd like to talk with us on equal ground about what we believe. I was like heck yeah, for sure we can do that. We tried calling him on Saturday though and he didn't answer so I don't know if we'll actually be able to set something up :/ Either way it was pretty cool though. Other than that we didn't do anything too interesting, just more studies and calling people.

On Saturday we had a district language study and district finding which was pretty fun. For the language study we did a popcorn lesson together and played some pictionary. Then for our finding we used the elders' call sheets to call people. Some of the people actually had interest so that's sweet. I also had my LPO and it went great! I passed off lesson 3 so next I'll have to teach Follow the Prophet and Word of Wisdom. I'm about halfway done with all the LPOs now and I hope I can keep moving smoothly through them! Other than that, we had a lesson with our friend Olina and it was a bit rough. We asked if she has desire to learn more about God and she just straight up said no. It's sad to see that she's kind of lost interest, but I know that God has a plan for her so things'll end up okay in the end. We also had a lesson with our recent convert, Pam, and one with our friend Sunny, his brothers, and their friend Thomas. With Pam we talked about temples and I could really feel the Spirit. Then with Sunny and the others we talked about the Restoration and when we asked if they think it's possible that a 14 year old boy, as Joseph Smith, could see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, Sunny said "一定係" (definitely). Sunny's only 14 himself, but his faith is so strong, it always impresses me. His friend Thomas was a bit unsure so it might take some time for him to gain faith, but I know that if he continues to meet with us and prays about what we teach him, he will gain that testimony.

On Sunday we had church like usual and that was good, but sadly a lot of our friends didn't come. We hope that next week they'll be able to! After church, we did some call finding and Facebook finding. We talked to one lady who said she'd like to keep in contact with us which is great! Other than that we didn't do anything too crazy but we made Swedish pancakes for dinner as an apartment which was super fun! Then at the end of the day we had our one on one English class with a boy named Jens who's so sweet.

Sorry there's not too much to report on this week! It's been raining nonstop for the past few days and the temperature has been a chill 8 degrees celsius so we haven't gone out too much 😅

Now for my spiritual thought!

This week I want to share a verse that I actually read this morning from 3 Nephi 28

34 And wo be unto him that will not hearken unto the words of Jesus, and also to them whom he hath chosen and sent among them; for whoso receiveth not the words of Jesus and the words of those whom he hath sent receiveth not him; and therefore he will not receive them at the last day;

This verse really stood out to me because a lot of the times it's easy to get discouraged when people don't want to listen to us about or start losing interest in the gospel, but I have to remember that it's not me they're rejecting, it's Jesus Christ and HIS gospel. I can't force people to follow Christ or to believe, that is a journey they have to travel themselves, I'm just here as a tool for Christ to use to help people who are prepared learn more. I know it can seem scary to share your beliefs and your testimony with other people but I encourage you to try it! God will give you strength. And if they reject you, remember that that's not on you and don't be afraid to try again! You might end up finding someone who really needs it in their lives.

I love you all so much! You're ballers ⛹‍♀️⛹‍♂️🏀

Also Mcdonalds are selling these Taro Mochi Oreo Mcflurries right now and they are AMAZING. Highly recommend.
