New a/c who dis?

大家好!! Greetings everyone from your favorite resident Hong Kong missionary 😁

This week was pretty normal but we did have a few interesting things happen so I'll let you in on the goings ons.

Last Monday was another ordinary pday so nothing too crazy to discuss there.

Tuesday was a bit more interesting because we got to go to the mission office! Sister Ho had to look into some school stuff and then we scheduled appointments that day to get our covid booster shots. The place we got them at was right by our apartment so that was pretty sweet. The biggest side effect I got from it was feeling really tired the next day but it was worth it for the extra protection 💪 Other than that it was a normal day of studies and finding 😊

On Wednesday we had some guys come and replace our AC which was pretty cool. Our old one was very ineffective and would make scary popping noises in the middle of the night so I'd say we were due for a new one. The technicians had to harness themselves out the window in order to fix it and we got a good kick out of that. Now we have a brand spanking new air conditioner and the only price we had to pay was cleaning the mess they left on the floor and counter :D Another interesting thing that happened that day was when Sister Ho and I went on a walk. We saw these kids playing soccer and then they accidentally kicked the ball into the ocean! 😮 But THEN, a boat came in right at that time and got the ball out of the water for them! Those guys were the true heroes of the day. Other than that we had our ECG where we taught about weather and environments. We only had one student this time so it was pretty chill.

On Thursday we had a zone meeting and district council which was fun as usual. We talked a lot about the past zone conference and how we can continue to improve ourselves spiritually. We also got to have a lesson with a less active member named Lam Hingdaih and a lesson with Gwok Sinsaang which were both great. With Lam HD we reviewed the restoration and had a good discussion with him about the importance of the Book of Mormon and the Priesthood. With Gwok SS he said that he still hasn't been praying so that's a bummer :( We reviewed the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him and I'm hoping that this week he might try to start building his faith more.

On Friday we had district language study and district finding which were so fun. For the languge study we played a game where we made a story by each saying a sentence and it turned out to be hilarious. It was about a boy and his magical stuffed animal dog who saves his life. I learned some fun new words like wizard, pikachu, and hydrogen bomb....don't ask. For the district find, we did Facebook finding and our goal was to each have at least one person respond to us. I got two so yay! Later that day, Sister Ho and I also got to watch a worldwide missionary devotional from Elder Andersen! It was sooo good! He talked a lot about how if we're going to teach people about Christ, we need to know His teachings and put them into our hearts. I've been thinking about that a lot lately and I know it's so true! I really want to study more about Christ's teachings and how I can use them to help others. Sister Ho and I also got to teach our recent convert friend, Pam, and that was interesting because apparently she's in Indonesia now! A little surprising but it's chill I guess haha. We taught her about the Priesthood and the different class organizations in the church and I think we had a really good discussion. Other than that, we covered some other sisters' ECG class and that was pretty cool because it was an advanced class so the students' English was very good! We taught about weather again and had some fun with it.

Saturday was busy as usual because we had so many activities. We had the dance activity, which was led by the elders this week, and that was pretty interesting. A lot more people came this week which is great! Then right after that we had an origami activity and a LOT of kids joined that. Things got a little complicated when the kids complained about the teachers going too fast but they figured it out in the end. Then we also had our game night activity again. We played Werewolf and Never Have I Ever which were both super fun! Only a few people joined again but we're hoping that as we keep doing these activities, more and more people will come 😊 I also had my LPO that day and I passed! I was a little nervous and fumbled with my words a bit but I got through it and in the end it was good! I'm a little stressed because next week I'll have to teach the Ten Commandments and that's pretty complicated to try and explain in English let alone Cantonese so pray for me 🥲 Then at the end of the day we got to teach Sunny, his brother, and his friend Thomas which was awesome! We talked with them about Priesthood and invited them to start preparing now to be worthy of it and they said okay! So grateful for them :')

On Sunday we had a pretty chill day. We had our normal zoom church meetings and unfortunately not as many of our friends could come this week but the messages shared were all so good! I love studying the Come Follow Me this year about the Old Testament. I feel like every week I learn something new! After church we did some call finding and we were actually able to set up an appointment with someone for Tuesday! I really hope it works out! Other than that, we just had normal studies and meetings and then for dinner Sister Myers and Sister Robison made some AWESOME chicken noodle soup! One of the Mandarin members had given them a whole chicken (like head and everything) so they decided, why not make soup? It turned out sooo good and we were all hyped to have it. Then at the end of the day, we got to teach our friend Jens another English lesson which was sweet. We went through another story from the Friend together and talked about being an example to others. Then we invited him to be a good example to others over the next few days 😊

That's it for this week! Not too shabby I'd say. Now for my spiritual thought of the week.

This week I finished the Book of Mormon for the second time on my mission (and probably the third time in my life) and each time I've read through it, I'm always impressed by something different. This time around, I was impressed by what a testimony the Book of Mormon is of God's infinite love for us as His children. There are so many times in the Book of Mormon when people go through hard trials and every time, God always provides help to them. Even when the people are wicked, God sends prophets to teach them of the truth and help them to be happy again. The sad thing is that the people don't always accept God's help. Nevertheless, He continues to send prophets and help in all sorts of ways to His children, hoping that eventually they will choose to return to Him.

As much as we would like to do everything on our own, even now (and especially now) we need God's help. Thankfully He's right there willing to give it to us. No matter what you're going through right now or what burdens you carry, Heavenly Father wants to help you. He loves you and He knows you. If you turn to Him and ask for His help, I know He will be there for you just as He has been for all of His children in the past and will continue to be in the future.

I love you all so much! I hope you're doing just amazing ✨✨

Have a wonderful week!
