 大家好!!!

Sista Santos and me
我希望呢上個星期係好好嘅。This week has just flown by for me. I've already been out of quarantine for 5 weeks which is so crazy!! So let's get into the good stuff.

On Monday for pday we had a pretty chill day. We had some kind of overpriced Indian food for lunch but it was still good. Then we just walked around Sham Shui Po a bit which was fun.

Us and the office elders being transported between apartments while helping Chan siuje move
On Tuesday we had a pretty busy day. We visited Yip Taai in person which was super cool! We planned to make banana cake with her which was all well and cool until we realized that we had forgotten stuff and had to make two separate runs to the store. But no biggie right? WRONG. Yip Taai lives on the 5th floor of her apartment building and the fun thing about old Hong Kong apartments is they don't have elevators so we had to climb 5 flights of stairs three different times :') It was painful. The cake turned out well though. We didn't have any frosting but it still tasted good and Yip Taai's husband even made us soup and heated up some homemade cha siu baau to go with it. It was awesome. We had a member named Tsang jimuih come with us to this visit and we all got to play Five Crowns together which was so fun!
Me and Sister Santo pt. 2
Sister Santos did most of the explaining of the rules because I didn't really know how to explain them in Cantonese but they got the hang of it. After visiting Yip Taai, we went to Kowloon Tong and had zone lunch and district council. For lunch we had leung sang faan which was so good and then I taught all of them how to play Five Crowns too. It was a big hit. Sadly I don't think they sell it anywhere in Hong Kong so they can't buy a copy for themselves but I'm glad they enjoyed it. For district council we had two of the quarantine elders join us over video call which was kind of funny because that used to be me. Their quarantine camp rooms definitely looked not as nice as the hotel room was for me but they're still surviving. They have to quarantine alone though which is so sad because the reason quarantine was so fun for me was definitely because I had Sister Johnson in it with me. I'll be praying for them haha. After district council we had LPOs and I actually did very well! I just taught principles 1-3 of the Restoration lesson and my partner said I can go on to teach principles 1-5 next time! I hope I can continue on this upward climb.

On Wednesday we went to Wan Chai to teach Cristy again (the lady who's not in our branch but wants to be taught in Tagalog) but when we got there, she and some other sisters were in the middle of a girls camp activity. The branch had put on a little girls camp night for the members who never had an opportunity to go when they were young and it was so sweet. The senior sister missionaries who were helping out bribed us to stay with pizza and smores and who can say no to that. We sang girls camp songs, learned how to tie knots with licorice, and toasted some smores in the microwave. It was lit. After the activity we pulled Cristy out for her lesson and it honestly went pretty well. We finished the Restoration lesson and invited her to read the Book of Mormon and she said she would. She actually is kind of eager to get the lessons over with because she already wants to get baptized 😂. She keeps talking to people like "when I get baptized..." so funny. After the lesson though, she started just going OFF in Tagalog. She just kept talking and talking and I couldn't understand a word of it. Sister Santos told me later and apparently she had gotten in a fight with her coworker and was just spilling the tea to Sister Santos. Pretty wild.

OH YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION BUT I WAS ALLOWED
TO TAKE HOME A GUITAR FROM THE MISSION OFFICE
SO I'VE BEEN PLAYING ON IT IN THE APARTMENT AND IT'S AWESOME

Thursday was also quite busy. In the morning we, some elders, and some other members helped a nonmember lady named Chan siuje (a different one) move into her new apartment. The reason they asked us to help is because she moved into an apartment that's in our area so she's a good potential to be taught. But if you thought Yip Taai's apartment was bad, this lady lived on the SIXTH floor. All stairs, no elevator, and this time we were moving stuff down the stairs. The moving stuff part went pretty quickly thankfully and she didn't even have us get everything out of her old apartment, just the big stuff mostly. After that we drove in some gogo vans to the new apartment and then helped unpack everything and clean it up. Chan siuje is disabled and has very short arms so we had to help do a lot of the moving, cleaning, and setting stuff up, but it was worth it. After we finished with the move, the members that helped us treated us for lunch which was awesome. We had our first mission choir practice after that to get ready for the Christmas concerts coming up and that was super fun. It should be good!

Just Hong Kong being pretty
On Friday we got to meet with Chan jimuih again! We read 1 Nephi 1 together with her and invited her to read more on her own and pray about it. She said that reading the Book of Mormon is pretty confusing but that she has still been doing it and praying and will continue to do so. She also came to church on Sunday and stayed for both hours which was so awesome! Friday night we had sports night again and thankfully there was no water fiasco this time. We played some basketball games, some ping pong with spatulas because the paddles were missing, and some spider ball of course. I also found a full drum kit in the stairwell behind the stage which was crazy! It was fun to play around with that. One of the girls that usually comes, Carrie, has apparently started being taught by the elders which is so cool! She and I sat down at the piano during sports night and I taught her some fun little songs which she enjoyed. She wants to get fried chicken with Sister Santos and I sometime so we are looking forward to that!

Just Hong Kong being pretty
For Saturday we didn't do too much but we had choir practice again! There were a lot of elders that showed up but most of them didn't really have a lot of musical experience so they had some trouble learning the bass and tenor parts. I just hope we can get it all together before the concert! I also got to play some violin for some of the sisters in our area and that was a little scary but they enjoyed it!

Sunday was a pretty great day but sadly the only friend of ours that came was Chan jimuih. Usually we teach our Peninsula friends on Sunday but none of them showed up so we didn't have any lessons. We did do our musical number though! It was funny because they almost forgot us in the program. We were at the very end of the meeting and when the presiding presidency member announced the closing hymn and prayer and we were all like wait what. Luckily some of the sisters went and talked to him and then we were able to go up and perform. Sister Santos played the piano accompinament for us and she did great! We also have been invited by some of the presidency members for Thanksgiving dinners this coming week and I'm so glad because I thought we might just have to skip Thanksgiving altogether. Peninsula branch has honestly been so great. Everyone there is so kind and it is really starting to feel like home. In Kowloon City it's still a bit hard because I can't really understand people too much yet and they don't really talk to me but I'm still working on it.

That's pretty much my week though! I hope yours has been good too and will continue to be so! Feel free to shoot me an email anytime!

Love you all!!

2 Nephi 27:23

23 For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.

God is always looking out for us and I know that when we have faith in Him and exercise that faith, He will truly work miracles in our lives! I invite you to do something to act in faith this week and see what kind of miracles He'll bring to you!
