Hello friends and family, boys and girls! Welcome back to Sister DelHoyo's weekly field updates. This week was a bit WILD so lets dive in.
Monday was a pretty chill pday. We went to an all you can eat Korean barbecue place and it was AWESOME. Definitely ate a lot more meat than "sparingly" like the Word of Wisdom says haha oops.
Tuesday we had zone lunch and district council which was great! Sister Santos gave a really fun training on working with stake and ward leaders and we got to play jeopardy which is always a blast (my team won, naturally). After that we had LPOs and I actually did very well! Last time I taught principles 1-3 of the restoration and so this time I taught principles 1-5 and my partner said it was great! He didn't even say to change anything and said that next week I can just teach the whole Restoration lesson! I'm a little nervous but I'm praying it'll go well and I can keep moving forward! We had choir practice after that to prepare for our Christmas concerts coming up. It was a long two hours but I think the program is coming along well! Also we got a new roommate!! Her name is Sister Chan and she's a native of Hong Kong! Her original assignment is England but she's been reassigned here. She is still in MTC currently but the natives in MTC have the option to live in the field while they finish up their training and that's what she chose to do so she's been hanging out with Sister Peterson, Sister Wong, and Sister Evans. So fun!
On Wednesday we didn't do too much but the place we got lunch at got our orders wrong so that was disappointing :).

Us on the Uchtdorf zoom!!! (Sadly most of the apartment are blocked in the picture haha)
On Thursday we had a big zoom meeting for an Asia Area mission devotional and it was so cool! The Asia area includes us, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, and Cambodia so it was huge! Elder Uchtdorf and some members of the 70 spoke to us and it was all so great! I love those guys. We also went finding that day! We have flyers to advertise a Christmas activity we're doing on the 3rd and so we passed a bunch of those out. I actually talked to people, even though very slowly, so I'm proud! I hope a lot of people come because it'll be super fun!
On Friday we had interviews with President Chan and mine went well. We didn't talk for too long but he gave me some good advice so I'm happy about it. We also had a social media meeting later that day to discuss our plans for the facebook page during Christmas time and I'm really excited for our ideas! If you're following the facebook page then keep an eye out for our December content! It'll be great! We headed to Wan Chai after that and taught Chan jimuih again. We taught her about the Plan of Salvation and I just love that lesson because it always makes me feel so peaceful and happy to share it. I think she enjoyed it and I hope she continues to want to learn more! Sadly we found out yesterday that she's in the hospital right now and we aren't sure why! Any and all prayers would be appreciated for her quick recovery :( On Friday night we also had sports night and that was fun as usual. Elder Tsang brought Catan and so we got to play that as a group and I definitely have missed playing it haha. We also played spider ball (of course) which is always lit.

Us lowkey lost in Sai Kung
Saturday was CRAZY. We decided to go on an apartment run that morning and you think that'd be all good and fun right? Well yes, except we FORGOT TO BRING OUR KEY. So yeah, we locked ourselves out of the apartment, BUT we still went running and it was a good time. Basically half of us ended up going to the other sisters in the area's apartment while two of us went to Kowloon Tong to get an extra key from the APs. But THEN, the key actually ended up not working and Sister Santos just used one of the umbrellas hanging on the gate in front of our door to pull open the gate handle and let us in. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ It was a weird morning. Once we were ready for the day, we traveled to Kowloon Tong after that and had another 2 hour choir practice which, again, was long but productive. Immediately after that we traveled to Sai Kung for a Thanksgiving dinner that one of the presidency members (Brother Benson) and his wife were holding. Sai Kung is reaaaally far from Kowloon Tong so we had to take the MTR and then two separate mini buses to get to where they lived. But then we also got lost trying to find their house haha. We walked up and down this hill where all these houses were and asked like 3 different people, trying to figure it out, and then in the end Brother Benson just came (with another sister don't worry) and picked us up in his car. We finally made it to the house safely though and it was a wonderful dinner. People in Hong Kong don't celebrate Thanksgiving so I was very happy to still be able to have one of sorts. We had tons of great food, lots of fun people to talk to, and even played some fun games. Definitely worth getting lost. But then it's funny because we got lost AGAIN trying to find the bus stop after leaving the house haha. We walked around for a good 15 minutes and even walked all the way down the hill. I thought I saw some bats but I'm not sure because they could've been birds, but I DID see a wild boar. That was pretty cool. We eventually made it back to the bus stop and rode back into Sai Kung pier but then saw that the line for the mini bus back to where we needed to go was crazy long. We ended up just catching a regular bus but it was $20 which is soooooo expensive compared to normal bus fare. An insane day for sure but definitely one for the books.

Us and Sister Mel!!
Sunday was great in comparison haha. We had stake conference so we went to the chapel 30 minutes earlier than usual and the elders introduced us to a new friend they have. Her name is Ellen and she's super sweet. We got to sit with her for conference and although it was super long and I didn't understand most of it, I was able to comprehend a good amount which was good. We went to Peninsula's sacrament meeting after that and there was a very nice musical number given by one of the FHE groups with Brother Benson and one of his nonmember coworkers' sons on violin. It was super pretty and the boy and his mom are both interested in coming to more meetings and learning more which is fantastic! After sacrament meeting, we had a great lesson with Arnold about the plan of salvation. Again, I just love teaching this lesson. Arnold is definitely one to ask a lot of questions and is quite smart himself so it was kind of fun to have a deeper discussion about it. He's been reading the Book of Mormon on his own and praying which is fantastic and I hope he continues to progress! We then had a really fun combined FHE activity with the sisters where we played games and won prizes. Our team won 2 out of the 4 games so that's pretty awesome 😎 Overall just a great and fun Sunday.
That's pretty much my wild week! Transfers will be announced this coming Thursday so I'm a little anxious to see what happens but I know it'll be good! Sister Santos and I are thinking they might even keep us together so we'll just have to see! Unfortunately you all will have to wait a week before finding out what went down but I'll be sure to let you know then! Transfers themself will actually happen next Monday so our pday will be on Tuesday instead of Monday. Therefore, don't be alarmed when you don't get my email when it usually comes out! It should be out a day later.
I love you all so much and I hope you are doing well! 加油!

This week I want to share a verse from
2 Nephi 32 verse 9:
9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.
I know that when we consecrate our work and efforts to the Lord that He will bless us every time! I invite you all this week to think of something that you can consecrate to the Lord and see the difference it makes when you do consecrate that thing!
